AT&T customers and FirstNet subscribers in Rochester got a big boost in wireless connectivity. We’ve added a new cell tower to enhance the area’s 4G LTE coverage and help give residents and first responders faster, more reliable wireless service. Our investment will help customers get the most out of their mobile devices.
“Customers are doing more with their wireless devices than ever before, and our goal is to give them an effortless network experience,” said Paul Weirtz, president of AT&T Minnesota. “Thanks to this investment, Rochester area residents, businesses and first responders can now enjoy faster mobile speeds than ever before. We are proud of our continued investment across Minnesota.”
“This is a welcome investment by AT&T that will help families and businesses in Rochester stay connected,” said State Senator Carla Nelson. “A fast and reliable wireless infrastructure is critically important in today’s mobile age to power advancements in everything from education to health care to business development.”
We know how important it is for our customers to stay connected. That’s why we’re also boosting network reliability and capacity as we expand our network. This helps Minnesota residents get the best possible experience over the AT&T network wherever they live, work and play.
These upgrades will also benefit public safety and first responders on FirstNet – public safety’s dedicated communications platform. FirstNet is bringing public safety communications into the 21st century with new, innovative capabilities to help those users stay safe and save lives.
FirstNet is being built with AT&T in a public private partnership with the First Responder Network Authority. It’s designed to help first responders in Minnesota and across the country connect to the critical information they need – when they need it – so they can keep themselves and the communities they serve safer.
At AT&T we’ve invested more than $325 million in our Minnesota wireless and wired networks during 2016-2018. And since 2010, we’ve invested more than $1.1 billion in our Minnesota networks.
In 2018, AT&T made 1,339 network enhancements across Minnesota, including new cell sites, additional network capacity, network upgrades and small cells. These investments boost reliability, coverage, speed and overall performance for residents and businesses. We’ve also improved critical services that support Public Safety and first responders using the FirstNet communications platform.
We are continuing our investments in our Minnesota networks in 2019. Expanding our network in the state has given AT&T the most wireless coverage in Minnesota.
