AT&T Picks up the Tab for Kansas City Area First Responders

Meals offered to first responders at select restaurants in the greater Kansas City metro area

Across the country and around the world healthcare workers and first responders are playing a critical role in helping care for their communities during the COVID-19 pandemic. That’s why AT&T is committed to providing much needed support for them as they help us through this difficult time.

To say “thank you” to our local heroes AT&T is collaborating with Operation BBQ Relief to provide meals to Kansas City area first responders and healthcare workers. Operation BBQ Relief – supported by a contribution from AT&T – will help provide more than 12,000 free meals from local restaurants during a two-week time frame to first responders and healthcare workers in Johnson, Wyandotte, Leavenworth, Jackson, Clay and Platte counties.

“I don’t think we can adequately say ‘thank you’ to our healthcare workers and first responders for the job they do every day – and that’s especially true during this time."

“I don’t think we can adequately say ‘thank you’ to our healthcare workers and first responders for the job they do every day – and that’s especially true during this time,” said Craig Unruh, President – AT&T Missouri. “So even if it’s just showing our appreciation by providing them with a free meal AT&T is honored to help.”

“These meals are just one way we are committed to supporting them and our communities during this trying time."

“We are thankful to work with Operation BBQ Relief to give back to healthcare workers and first responders who are giving their all to take care of our community,” said Molly Kocour Boyle, President – AT&T Kansas. “These meals are just one way we are committed to supporting them and our communities during this trying time."

“I appreciate AT&T sharing in our care for and commitment to our first responders and healthcare agencies who put their lives and their health on the line to protect our community each and every day,” said Kansas City Mayor Quinton Lucas. “AT&T will keep them well-fed, and our community will continue to protect our protectors by staying at home.”

“Operation BBQ Relief is honored to team up with AT&T to help feed first responders and healthcare workers on the front lines in the Kansas City area,” said Stan Hays, CEO and co-founder of Operation BBQ Relief. “We are grateful for this partnership with AT&T to connect, inspire, and feed our heroes during this time of uncertainty.”

This contribution is part of an initiative called Believe Kansas City SM. Believe Kansas City is an employee-led initiative with the goal of creating positive change in our communities. As part of our Believe Kansas City initiative, we are also providing contributions focused on broader community needs in response to the pandemic. Our work will continue to evolve and grow in the coming weeks and months to ensure we’re reaching the communities and personnel who need us most.
