Contribution made to support families of fallen officers

Earlier this month, AT&T presented the Michigan Sheriffs’ Association (MSA) with a $10,000 contribution to support the Sheriff & Municipal Memorial Assistance Response Team (SMMART), a program aiding the families of fallen officers throughout the state.

“It’s hard enough already to be the son, daughter, husband or wife of a police officer — every day your loved one risks his or her life to serve and protect the community, and sometimes they don’t make it home,” said Berrien County Sheriff Paul Bailey, President of the MSA. “In those tragic situations, it’s important that we do everything we can to help those families through the traumatic experience of losing a loved one, and this contribution from AT&T will help a great deal in that regard.”

First established in 2003, the SMMART program provides meaningful support in the areas of funeral planning, benefit coordination and stress management for the families of Michigan’s fallen officers.

AT&T is immensely proud to support the SMMART program. Helping the families of fallen officers is the least we can do to support the brave men and women risking their lives every day to keep the rest of us safe.
