The latest numbers are in – and they show that we’ve invested nearly $1.2 billion in our Indiana wireless and wired networks over the last three years! These investments during 2016-2018 boost reliability, coverage, speed and overall performance for residents and businesses.
As part of these investments, we’ve improved critical services that support public safety and first responders using the FirstNet communications platform. And, we’ve helped meet the needs of nearly 27,000 customers in largely rural areas through our participation in the FCC’s Connect America Fund.
In 2018 alone, AT&T made over 900 wireless network upgrades in including those that led to the launch of 5G in the City of Indianapolis.
Breaking down a couple of specific Hoosier communities for you: we invested nearly $15 million into Fort Wayne’s technology infrastructure over the last three years, and Indianapolis is experiencing the benefits of nearly $425 million in improvements.
We’re fortunate to have forward-thinking leaders in Indiana that encourage companies like ours to invest here, and help pave the path to additional 5G mobile services in the years ahead.
