You hear a lot about the financial contributions we make through AT&T Aspire for education efforts across Indiana. However, you may not know that AT&T employees also devote a significant amount of time to mentoring young people.
Between 2012 and 2016, more than 4,100 Hoosier students were mentored by our employees through the Aspire Mentoring Academy.
In 2017, that great work has continued. This month, for example, 25 students participated in some team-building exercises at Evansville Vanderburgh School Corporation’s Academy for Innovative Studies (AIS).
AIS seniors were charged with constructing the tallest structure possible — with marshmallows and spaghetti! And with curriculum from the Aspire Mentoring Academy, they learned decision-making techniques using SMART goals, explored their strengths, and discussed how they could better set goals. Their mentoring experience ended with lessons in persuasive communications.
