“With passage of SB 1839, Illinois is one step closer to a communications law that reflects reality, not history. Should it become law, Illinois would catch up to the 19 other states that already adopted modern communications laws to better position their states for more investment in high-speed internet and wireless networks that consumers and businesses rely on today.
“It is important to note that the bill that Illinois lawmakers passed includes some of the strongest customer protections of any modern communications law in the nation.
“The General Assembly approved a balanced approach to making progress for Illinois, and we are hopeful that Gov. Rauner will sign it into law.””
